Week Ending May 30th - Although Morton lost some time due to three days of near constant rain they did get a large part of the roof on. Additionally RKD Plumbing installed the drain pipes for the bath room, viewing room and wash stall; with the infrastructure now in place the task of connecting the fixtures and running the water service will be much simpler when Morton completes the building. Mike Genovesi and his crew also installed some of the natural split rail paddock fencing. With all the rain we had the hydro seeding that Goudreault Landscaping applied is starting to germinate and it won't be long before we have beautiful green grass throughout the property. And "Indian Meadow" continues to be alive with the beautiful colors of spring and the peaceful and relaxing sounds of the many bird species in the area. Transition to Summer is nearing.

Week Ending May 23rd - The upper columns have been attached and 100 feet of trusses and rafters are now in place. The indoor arena is looking great. The momentum continues.

Week Ending May 16th - Morton is now in full construction mode. All the column holes have been augered and the lower level of the structural columns have been cemented in place. The 81 foot trusses have been delivered and successfully unloaded on site. The gravel driveway to the back of the small barn and garage is now complete; Jimmy did a beautiful job of shaping the driveway and parking area and once the grass comes up and the split rail fencing is complete this will be a dramatic transformation from the original condition of this area.

Week Ending May 2nd - It was another highly productive week with progress on a number of fronts. Mike Genovesi and his crew started installing natural split rail fencing for some of the paddock areas, including Miss Amy's new home. Jimmy and AJ completed construction of a beautiful stonewall that will be a focal point of the property. The Unit crew completed the installation of a comprehensive storm water management system; all the rain water from the roof of the barn will be captured by gutters and downspouts and be routed via a 6" PVC pipe system surrounding the barn to a grid of Stormtech chambers where the rain water will replenish the groundwater in a managed and controlled way. We also started to screen and spread loam as we begin the "tune-up" phase to various areas in preparation for hydro-seeding. It's been 7 weeks since Unit began this project and Shawn is still smiling (see photos below) so things must be going well. The actual barn construction is imminent.
